Lots of people are grumbling about the recent postal rate increases. But instead of you know complaining that this hurts the economy or this hurts your business or this hurts working families or whatever.
Don’t join the mass hysteria but instead take the approach of the savvy direct mailer. And thank the postal service for reducing the amount of competition you have. You see most direct mailers are going to have a knee jerk reaction to the postal rates going up. And they’ll cut back on how much or how often they mail their letters. Many other people probably mailed their promotions out right before the rates went up so that they can get that one last promotion just to save a little bit of extra money.
And if you were paying attention to the week before, May 14th 2007, you’ll probably notice that you were getting a larger amount of direct mail advertisements than normal.
Now what you the smart direct marketer should be doing is you should be sending out your direct mail pieces after which means right now. You notice that there is less noise.
