Now, when dealing with auto- responders from the point of view of an email marketer, someone who could make money with email, we’re going to need a system that is um… considerably more advanced than a basic auto- responder, but the basic concept remains the same.

Today’s auto- responders not only automatically reply to emails that are sent to them, but are capable of addressing you by name when they send you an email, instead of the subject that says ‘ Here’s the report you requested ’, uh… an auto- responder can say, ‘ Hey John, here’s the report you requested ’, or whatever your first name happens to be. Now, it can beset up to collect phone numbers, mailing addresses, birthdays, uh… the number of children somebody has.

Uh… not only that, but today’s auto- responders can set uh… can be set to contact a person multiple times over a period of days, weeks, months, even years, and it’ll email these people automatically, without you needing to do anything, once you’ve got the entire system set up. So, you’re starting to kind of see why an auto- responder is so important. It not only allows you to send a person a full report they requested automatically, but it can continue to follow up with that person, and makes sales for you like an autopilot. Uh… In my next lesson, I’m going to cover the process of choosing an auto- responder, and cover some of the details that you need to be aware of, and I’m going to give you a few recommendations on who I’d go with.
